Music Teacher for all ages
During music play time, children learn to understand and enjoy using the language of music through the fun of working together. The children acquire basic musical skills in rhythm and pitch through singing, listening, playing percussion instruments, moving to music and musical games. Each child has a kit of 5 instruments and a glockenspiel.
Staff regularly receive training from our dedicated music teacher Mary, who creates engaging music plans tailored to each age group.
Outdoor Play
Children at Scallywags nursery venture outside throughout the day, in one of the two gardens, exploring the natural world.
The smaller of the two gardens is home to the Snowdrops and Buttercups units. The garden consists of a decking area, cushioned flooring, and an area of grass. The garden also benefits from a sheltered sand pit and equipment to promote gross motor skills, rocking horses, mini obstacle course, balancing platform, and push along cars/bikes.
Baby Yoga
Staff are trained to plan, implement, and provide yoga for all children, including young babies, to be able to express themselves.
The children enjoy the stretching and physical activity of learning basic yoga moves and discovering what their bodies can do.

The staff provide a warm friendly atmosphere and the development of your child is encouraged at their own pace.

Qualifications
Staff at Scallywags are qualified with diplomas in early years or equivalent qualifications, some have degrees in early childhood studies foundation or above. We also employ qualified teachers and we are also a training facility for Early Years Professionals to the University. Staff are also trained regularly in first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding.
Good Attitude
The staff are humorous, amiable and loving with the children who very much enjoy their time at nursery. A key-worker system is in place for all age groups. Your child’s key-worker is responsible for documenting your child’s needs and progress and can talk to you about any concerns you may have with regard to these aspects of your child’s care and education.

Everything is included in your fee apart from formula, breast milk, bottom/nappy cream and pull up nappies.
Every child is allocated a key worker. This may change if your child develops a better relationship with another member of staff in your child's unit.
Settling visits and creating a care plan with you. The development and progress of your child. Parents evenings. A friendly dedicated person to go to if you would like advice or to talk about your child's development.
